Hey Guys,

Wow!!! You continue to deliver 4 volumes on. When Derek turned around and said "It's okay, babe. I'm not hiding from this anymore", I got goosebumps. The panel is the single best panel in your series to date, it captures everything that make up Derek and the Blue Comet. I can't help thinking that Zack Savage is in for an ass-whooping like there's never been before.

I keep trying to get the other gay guys I know to read this series, but sadly in South Africa, comics (online or otherwise) are considered a form of social leprosy and to admit to reading them is tantamount to committing Hari Keri (sp?).

Anyway, just wanted to drop a quick note to tell you guys how much I am loving the series and how thoroughly you rock the party. Keep up the great work.

Ciao,
Grant

PS Please tell me that you guys have plans to work on another series after this one wraps up, I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that once season 4 wraps up that's it. No more weekly injection of Derek and Justin. But please tell me you are planning to do a new series or something.

PPS That's the problem with fans. They won't be satisfied until they've taken a steaming pound of bloody flesh.

Dear Grant,

Wow! Your goosebumps gave us goosebumps! When we created the page where Derek decides he's not hiding anymore, we hoped that it would get the kind of reaction you had! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your high praise!!!

Derek had been hiding from his true identity all his life. With Justin's love and acceptance, he overcame his fear. Everything about Derek's struggle lead to that one moment. As the illustrator, I knew I had to capture what he was feeling and show his determination all in one image. Based on your letter, I feel that I did it right! (whew!) Thank you again for saying that it is the best panel in the series! And as for Zack Savage... just wait and see what's in store for him!

As far as the future of BMH is concerned, we have indeed been kicking around some ideas for the continuation of our characters's stories. We are still working on getting these first four issues published and then we will see what format will work best for the further adventures of Blue Comet and co.!

Thanks so much for your wonderful email! Readers like you make all the difference!

Much love,
-Chayne

jokermaster988

Thanks for being a big fan!

April 10, 2007

hey there,

totally lovin the comic, great artwork AND storyline - cute guys too =P - plus i like how your being tasteful with the nudity, none of this silly over-exaggeration of genitalia, the love between derek and justin, and derek's coming out are far more important than sleazy jerk-off material.

i know you must get asked this like all the time, but how easily dya think you guys could get an RSS feed sorted, would make my life much easier to check for updates =D am totally eagerly awaiting updates, getting them in me inbox along with me more mundane emails would be so fab!

thanks!

lv skwirel xx

Skwirel,

Hey there back! Glad to hear that you are loving our comic! It's great to get recognized for our art as well as our story. We put our heart and soul into this project and try to make it the best we can! When we get awesome emails like yours, it keeps us going knowing that we are appreciated!

I happen to be a huge fan of male nudity (big surprise!) and I wanted to include some within the story. We felt it was very important in demonstrating that love and the human form can be a beautiful thing. In dealing with Derek's coming out story, we wanted to show how positive and amazing his love making with Justin is. These two are deeply in love with each other and that love is the reason Derek is able to embrace his sexuality and stop feeling shame.

I'm sorry we don't offer an RSS feed. But we do try to upload a new page on Thursday of each week. So just check back at the end of each week and we should have a new page up. (Unless real life gets in the way!)

Thanks for your support! It means a lot to both of us!
Hugs and kisses!

Hello my name is luis and I think you guys’ rock. I absolutely love your comic and the things it deals
with. I loved it so much I recommended it to my friends who also loved it and were totally enticed with the whole story. I am a Hispanic-American and so are my friends and they don’t speak very well English but I translate for them the whole comic. Plus I am gay too and kind of relate to why you created the whole story. Even the major comic publishers have a hard time making a whole story about a hero and his lover. Anyway I want to say Thank you for putting such a great story online.

Thanks Again, one of you’re biggest fans
Luis

PS: I made a picture collage mixing in some pictures from you’re site to create something for you. It’s a large avatar for you to use, sorry if you don’t like it.

Dear Luis,

Thanks for the totally cool email and collage! (Of course we loved it!) It was very cool to hear about how you translate our comic to your friends! You must be an awesome friend indeed! As always, it's encouraging when we get emails like yours. We always hope that readers out there will be able to relate to what are characters go through. Thanks for taking the time to let us know that we are acomplishing what we set out to do!

All the best to you and your friends.

THANK YOU!

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks so much for your great comic! It is like Christmas morning for me every week as I wait to see what is going to happen next! I honestly can't wait for every new page!

I have to tell you, I think the story you are telling is an amazing one. All too many of us have gone through something like this in terms of accepting ourselves and loving ourselves enough to allow others to love us too. I am from Utah (that should be enough said on that topic) and lived many years in the closet. i tried very hard to put on the front that everyone here wants to see and be that perfect person. But in the end it came down to loving myself enough to let myself be who I truly was and stop hiding. So thanks for telling my story (well the story of so many of us really)! Besides it is just amazing we get our own superhero!
peace!

Justin

Dear Justin,

You are very welcome! And thank you so much for your incredible and heart-felt email! I lived in the closet for a few years in my early 20's and, like you, decided that it wasn't the way I wanted to live my life. I know many gay people go through this period and it's always so amazing to hear about those that embrace their true selves and stop hiding! That is exactly why we presented the struggle that Derek goes through. Self acceptance is the most powerful way for a person to feel positive about themselves. Glad to know that you accomplished that even in Utah!

Take care and all the best,
-Chayne

This is Trevor. I am now 16 years old. I love this comic and I read it whenever the chance (I have brothers and a sister and I am not out) and this is really helping me accept not only myself but other people. If you take this away I won't know what to do. This is the only gay comic book where you don't have to pay and I absolutely love it. Please I am begging you do not make this your final issue. At least go to 10. If you believe in numerology you will go to 10!

Dear Trevor,

Your email really touched me personally. I'm so happy that Boy Meets Hero has impacted you. Self acceptance is a very important part of being a positive person. I'm very glad to know that our comic is helping you do that. It was so awesome of you to write in to let us know how much you love our comic!

Being in the closet is something all gay people can relate to. Both Russ and I went through that period of our lives. We were lucky to meet when we were 20 and helped each other deal with it. I was able to accept my orientation with the help of Russ, my parents and younger brother. I felt pride in who I was and embraced my sexuality. Russ took a little longer, but managed to accept himself as well.

Coming out to anyone can be a very scary event. You never know what to expect. But luckily in today's age, more people are accepting of gays than are not. I know that one day you will go through the experience of telling someone in your life the truth about your orientation. Just remember, it doesn't change who you already are. You are the same person inside, regardless if someone knows you are gay or not.

Regarding the future of Boy Meets Hero. We both have been talking of continuing the adventures of our characters. They are very important to us, and to our fans as well. We don't plan to cancel Boy Meets Hero after issue 4 is finished. It will just be the end of the origin story arc that sets the stage for the further adventures of Blue Comet & co. We plan to start with a new format as well.

Much of this really depends on if we get picked up by a publisher. Doing a comic for free is not easy and we hope to be able to sell printed versions of our comics in the near future. Fortunately we are attempting to find a publisher so we will be able to continue.

Well, Trevor, I want to thank you again for your email. Rest assured, things are definitely not coming to an end anytime soon! Best of luck to you in everything you do!

Regards,
-Chayne

One of the best!

I just wanted to say i sat down and read everyone of the strips in one night I loved the story line the way the drawing was done. I love the charaters. You guys are very creative I just wanted to complement you on it and you are doing a great job.

Keep up the great work
Chad L.

Hey Chad!
Thanks for your letter! It's so awesome that you read our comic in one night and really got into it! Thanks for your kind words and taking the time to let us know you enjoy our comic.

It means a great deal to us that you said our comic is one of the best! It's always nice to be reminded that others like what we are creating.

Thanks for your support. All the best!

March 23, 2007

Dear Chayne~
I know you are busy with your jobs and creating new pages of Boy Meets Hero, so I'll keep this brief. I just wanted to drop a line and say kudos on your 14th anniversary with each other.

Hope all is well. Take care.
Your Friend,
Brian B. :^)

Dear Brian,

Thanks for the anniversary wish, you are very sweet! We've been working almost non-stop in our free time-to get more pages finished... it can be exhausting. But we also make time to play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on PS3. So if there are any delays in getting a new page posted, you now know the culprit! It is a very addictive game and I have to remember to peel myself away from it to work on Boy Meets Hero!

All the best.
Your friend, Chayne

Been reading ya'lls comic and I think it's pretty cool actually! I think it's one of a kind and I really enjoy it, it's great to see the world from a whole other perspective on which you never, or hardly hear from.

-Gavin

Dear Gavin,

Wow! It's great to hear from you! I'm glad you like our comic. It means
a lot that you took the time to write and let us know your thoughts.
We've tried very hard to make our comic unique by showing that even gay
people deserve to be heroes as well!

Thanks so much for your compliments. I hope you'll get a kick out of the
upcoming pages, they feature a giant robot vs. the good guys!!!

Take care.
-Chayne

March 25, 2007

Yeah man, Julia told me about ya'lls comic and I decided to read it and I think what you guys are doing is great! Yeah, it doesn't matter who you find attractive. You can be a super-hero no matter what, by helping some old lady cross the street or flying around and beating the bad guys!

Ya'll are welcome and I hope to see more from you guys!
You too.

You are definitely a hero! Take care!

March 11, 2007

Dear Russell & Chayne,

I bet you get a bunch of mail all the time from people raving about your comic. So, I won't waste your time with all that rambling, especially since you are probably doing hard work. Okay, I will rave for a few seconds, sorry. I adore your comic, All your characters have such great detail to them and just seem to be so life-like, I bet they are your alter egos don't worry I won't tell, but I think this is just perfect and amazing. I hope that you continue with this for a long time. I hope to see more in the future, and do you think that when you get it published, you can send me an email immediately.

I just can't wait to see the rest of this. I will be the first person on line waiting for this comic forever, and I'm gonna buy every copy. I think it is just that amazing. It's about time I see an extraordinary comic about a gay super hero and his best friend, their life, and the difficulties they must face, not just villains, but also the problems in their life. I hope you both read this, and continue this miraculous work that you do. I think your comic would make a difference in a few peoples lives, especially the gay children who don't have a hero to look up to.

Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Russell M.

Dear Russell,

Thank you for your email! I'm so glad to hear that you adore our comic and that you would buy every copy once it gets printed! (That would be great!) It was so sweet of you to take the time to let us know your thoughts on the hard work that we do. It really means a lot!

I wanted to also thank you for pointing out that our characters seem life-like. We try very hard to give them some deapth and emotion. And yes, they are somewhat our alter egos. Justin is very similar to me in his interests and is a bit geeky! Blue Comet coming to terms with being gay is similar to what Russ went through a few years ago (except his job wasn't on the line.) We try to put a super hero spin on experiences we've had together and use them for the basis of our story.

Once we do get published we will defintely let you and all our fans know how and where you can purchase the book. Since we have your email on file, we can let you know that way.

Finally, I wanted to thank you for mentioning that we make a difference in a few people's lives. That is one of our deepest hopes. It really is important to have positive role models for young gay people and I hope they will find our comic uplifting.

Well, best wishes to you and thanks again!
-Chayne

March 11, 2007

Chayne & Russ; I love your Boy Meets Hero Comic. It is very sensitive, positive, creative, uplifting and imaginative. Quite like what many of us long for in reality! I stumbled across your website by chance, so I hope there is some forum you use to make others aware of your presence. Also, hopefully there is a deal in the near future so that BMH can distributed in comic book form. Keep Up The Good Work! Thanks!
Dee

Dear Dee,

Thank you very much for your kind words. It always means a great deal to me when people understand the driving forces behind creating this comic. I wanted to create something that is indeed sensitive, positive, creative, uplifting and imaginative!!! And I thank you for describing Boy Meets Hero in that manner!

I too wish that reality could be similar to life in our comic... I guess I've always been a dreamer. That is why one day I decided to actually create my own "reality" in the form of this story. I wanted it to be positive, colorful and fun! And I'm so happy that you feel that it is! That means I'm conveying what I set out to.

Thanks again for your support and your wonderful email. Best regards.

March 4, 2007

Hey'all

Impatient Brit here, just wondering when we will get to find out how WHO deals with a gay superhero, what happened when Justin began to glow, and generally just to perv somemore on your great artwork :P

Yours

Tim XxX

Dear Tim,

Thank you for your email. It's so cool that you "perv" on my artwork!!! (I got such a kick out of reading that!)

You are very savvy regarding what we've been setting up. Stay tuned over the next few months and you will get the answers to your questions... We shall indeed reveal what Justin's glow was about and how W.H.O. will deal with Blue Comet once the truth is discovered... I think I might have said too much!

Anyway, thanks and best wishes!
-Chayne

March 28, 2007

Dear Chayne,
I wish I had your talents for drawing people, however hard i try, find it really hard to draw hands, faces, feet..in fact pretty much everything, so generally my doodles have a charecteric androgeny, with over-long sleeves to cover the hands, some form of long robe or rags that cover the feet and quite often a pair of wings (i like angels :D) where one is usually half furled to get around my difficulty in drawing them symetrical lol.

anyway I am having great fun reading the comic and really like the look of ebony and ivory (tho i confess to a weakness for the strong silent type so i am slightly biased)and i find that you have dealt with the sex scenes that have been portrayed in a very mature way (feeling kinda embarrassed i used the word perv now, makes you sound like a porn mag ;) ) i await with baited breath page 71, and congrats on your anniversary

Tim XxX

Dear Tim,

Hey there! It's nice to hear from you again. Thanks for another great email!

I know what it is like to wish for the talent of others. I've often looked at my own work and gotten upset that it wasn't like Jim Lee or Ed Benes or some other incredibly talented artist that works for Marvel or DC. But I know in my heart that I am doing my best and that is what matters!

So what if you have a difficult time drawing hands or feet! As long as you are having fun, that is what matters! Keep doing what you enjoy. If you feel that you want to improve certain areas that you consider weaker than others, then that is great as well! There are plenty of "how to" books that you can reference. Keep at it and draw what you love!

Thanks for your praise regarding Ebony and Ivory. It's nice to know that they are appreciated as well! I think you might be the first person to comment on these two mostly silent hunks! (They finally get to talk once Cold Snap wasn't around!)

Finally, it meant a lot that you felt our sex scene was portrayed in a mature manner. We went back and forth regarding how much we should show and whether it placed our comic in a pornographic category or not. We didn't want our comic to get labled as inappropriate, but we also wanted to give it some sensuality. I'm comforted to know that you feel the way you do about it. That is just what I needed to hear! (And please don't feel embarrassed about your comment, it made me laugh in a good way!)

Well, take care and thanks for the anniversary wish!
-Chayne

February 27, 2007

i loved ur comic it was very hott but i think we could use some pictures of the comet and his bf nude with hard ons that would really help a lot

ur friend MJ

Hey MJ! Thanks for writing to tell us you like Boy Meets Hero! I'm glad you think it is hot 'cause I try very hard to make it that way! Drawing hot, sexy men is one of my favorite hobbies!

As far as depicting our character erect, I don't think we will ever go that far. We felt that the amount of sexual activity in the island scene was as much as we wanted to show. There are plenty of other gay comics online that go much further than we do. One of our links to Anti-Heroes is a great example for some good ol' fashioned smut!!! Check it out at http://anti-heroes.net/ if you haven't already and enjoy some very hot guys!

Thanks again!
-Chayne

Dear Robbie,

Thanks so much! Hope you've been enjoying the new pages each week. Thanks for your support!
-Chayne & Russ

February 12, 2007

Yeahhh...not sure what to say, except I love the comic. I was looking for pictures off Google for reference to a drawing I was working on at the time...and I stumbled onto Boy Meets Hero and I haven't left it alone since. Literally every day I'm on there, going 'Is there a new page?! OMG! There is! *hyperventilates*'

I'm not really that weird. I promise. But hey, I wanted to tell ya what I think, so I am. I'm glad I found something like BMH online, and that there's people out there who like 'two men in love' kind of things. At least I'm not the only one who writes that!

So for now...I'm off. I hope I didn't make a bad impression or anything. I'm odd...but aren't we all?

Sheldyn

Dear Sheldyn,

Thanks for an awesome first impression! Of course we love anyone who likes our comic! It's so cool to hear that you visit our site everyday in anticipation of the next installment. That means we are doing something right!

Letters like yours are very encouraging and make this project worth while. I've always wanted the major comic companies to make "two men in love" comics like BMH. There don't seem to be very many that deal with the subject matter the way our comic does. So one day I decided I was tired of waiting for Marvel or DC to make a main character who was gay and made one of my own! And with all kinds of help from my real life hero, (my bf Russ) we were able to make Boy Meets Hero a reality!

So thanks for "getting" what we are all about! Take care and keep in touch!
Sincerely, Chayne

February 13, 2007

Hey Chayne,
Of course you're doing something right! Haha, your comic is probably the only comic I read...aside from manga and whatnot. And I'm glad I made a good first impression. I was scared for a moment.

And if letters like mine are encouraging, I'm glad I sent it. And I'm glad you went ahead and did what you wanted. Because of you, I love gay people more than ever (if that's possible)! I'm very glad I stumbled across BMH. Even my friend Kenda can't leave it alone...(I got her hooked). Buah hahaha!

You're lucky to have your own hero. I'm jealous!  And now...I'm inspired to go work on one of my stories. Major writers block. Uhg...

I'll gladly keep in touch, and keep up the great work!!!

Your crazy fan,
Shelly

February 12, 2007

thanks mel

Dear Mel,
Thanks for writing to let us know you like our work! We've been trying to break into the comic biz for what seems like forever! Back in 2001 we managed to get four issues printed of another project called The Wonderverse. It was a black & white victorian mini-series that was written by some friends of ours. We still have some issues left and you can check out some of the page art in our gallery section.

Thanks again for enjoying our comic. We hope to hear from you again sometime!

January 16, 2007

Hello, Chayne and Russell,
My name is Joe Palmer, and I run a website that you may have come across, www.gayleague.com. A while back I came across your story, and enjoyed it, and then let a lot of distractions keep me from checking back. I came back to your site yesterday and caught up on the latest adventures of Blue Comet and Sunstar and happenings with Derek and Justin.

There are a couple of questions I'd like to ask you. The first is about links. I have a specific page of links for online web comics, and would like to include one to Boy Meets Hero. Assuming this is okay with you both, could you write a one or two line description of Boy Meets Hero to include with the link?

Joe

Joe,

Thanks for writing! We have come across your site before and like you, never seem to find the time check back often enough! Anyway, we'd love to have the link and ad on gayleague.com. We'll send you the description and banner as soon as we can.

Thanks again!
Russ & Chayne
